8월 1일 15시 31분 김녕지서가 무장대 약 30명으로부터 공격을 받았다. 무장 대 중 다수는 일본제 철모와 국방경비대 옷을 입고 있었고, M1 소총을 휴대하고 있었다. 이들은 경비대 탈영자들로 믿어진다. 1시간 이상 된 경비대와 무장대 양 측의 교전에서 실탄 수백 발이 발사됐다. 김녕에서 유력한 우익인사인 부양은
(BOO, RYANG UN)이 무장대가 쏜 총에 맞아 숨졌다. 경찰과 무장대의 피해상 황에 대해선 알려지지 않고 있다. (B-2)

1. OPERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE.
a. Russian Activity:
Dogs Strengthen North Korean Border Defenses:
Other intelligence sources reported that the Soviet Army has distributed three thousand and seven hundred (3,700) war dogs to the North Korean Peoples' Army. (C-4) The dogs are now being trained and a number of them will be distributed to the North
Korean Peoples' Army units along the 38th parallel sometime in
September 1948. (C-3)

3. CIVIL RELATIONS - None reported.
4. SUMMARY OF INTELLIGENCE IN ADJACENT AREAS.
a. CHEJU DO Raiders In Action:
Other intelligence sources reported that at 011531 August 1948, the KPUM YUNG (957-1157) police sub-station was attacked by approximately thirty (30) raiders. The majority wore Japanese helmets, constabulary uniforms and carried M-1 rifles.
They are believed to have been deserters from the Korean Army.
Several hundred rounds were fired by both the Police and raiders in the skirmish which lasted for more than an hour. BOO, RYANG
UN, Prominent rightist in KUUM YUNG, was shot and killed by the raiders. There were no police or known raider casualties. (E-2)
5. MISCELLANEOUS.
a. Train Movements:
US weekly mail exchange train arrived TOSONG-NI at 1058 hours and cleared for CHIN DONG, the exchange point, at 1101 hours.
On return trip, train arrived TOSONG-NI at 1204 hours, and cleared for SEOUL at 1206 hours, 2 September.
b. Road and Weather Conditions:
7th Division Area as of 0900 hours, 3 September: All roads passable, all airstrips operable, all ferries operating. Tides for 4 September: High, 1647, 31.1 feet, and 1900, 29.6 feet. Low,
0025, -0.1, and 1253, 1.4 feet.
c. Weather Forecast For 04 September:
Partly cloudy. No precipitation. Maximum temperature 83°, minimum temperature 70°. Surface winds, southwesterly, five (5)
to eight (8) knots.
