a. 공산주의자 테러
제주도에서 무장대가 경찰 공격 (추가보고)
8월 1일 오후 3시 31분 김녕(975-1157) 지서가 무장대 약 30명으로부터 공격을 받았다. 무장대 다수는 일본제 철모와 경관 제복을 입고 있었고, M1 소총을 휴대하고 있었다. 이들 중 다수는 경비대에서 탈영한 자들로 믿어진다. 1시간 이상 계속된 교전에서 경찰과 무장대 양측은 수백 발의 실탄을 발사했다. 김녕의 유력한 우익인사 1명이 무장대에게 살해되었으나, 경찰이나 무장대 측의 사상자에 대해서는 알려진 바가 없다. (방첩대 정기보고 제207호. B-2)
d. 개괄
(1) 제주도 인민해방군 찬사를 받음 제주도 인민해방군에게 김일성은 찬사의 서신을 보내고 의복과 탄약, 그리고 고문단 지원을 약속했다. 보고에 따르면 지난 6월 김일성대학을 졸업한 제주도 출신자 수 명이 김일성으로부터 더 많은 원조 약속과 지시 사항을 전달받고 제주도로 돌아오는 중이다. (방첩대 정기보고 제207호. C-3)

Korean Veterans Group Solicits Funds
The Korean Volunteer Veteran's Association is reportedly soliciting funds from the CHONGJU (1050-1530) residents. Proposed goal of the
KVVA is 500,000 won but to date they have collected only 300,000 won.
The KVVA also plans to organize a branch of their organization in
UMSONG Gun (1066-1567). (CIC P/R #206. C-3)

a. Communist Terrorism
Raiders Attack Police On CHEJU-DO (Delayed Report)
At 011531 August the KEUM YUNG (975-1157) police box was attacked by approximately 30 raiders, the majority of whom wore Japanese helmets, constabulary uniforms and carried M1 rifles. Many of the raiders were believed to have been deserters from the Korean
Constabulary. Several hundred rounds were fired by both the police and the raiders in a fight which lasted for more than an hour. A prominent rightist in KEUM YUNG was killed by the raiders but there were no known casualties among the police or raiders. (CIC P/R #207.

(1) People's Liberation Army On CHEJU-DO Praised
A letter of praise and a promise of aid in the form of clothing, ammunition and advisors was received from KIM Il Sung by the
People's Liberation Army on CHEJU-DO. Several men from CHEJU-DO who graduated from the KIM Il Sung University in June are allegedly on their way from North KOREA to CHEJU-DO with further promises of aid and instructions from KIM Il Sung. (CIC P/R #207. C-3)
(2) CHUNGCHONG-PUKTU Policeman Arrested For Communist Activities
A sergeant of the Korean National Police in KOESAN (1078-
1553) was arrested on 30 August and charged with participation in the
North Korean election and affiliation with the communists. During interrogation the policeman implicated an unknown number of fellow policemen. (CIC P/R #206. B-3)

(3) North Korean Ballots Falsified
A member of the DEMOCRATIC STUDENTS UNION was assigned the mission of obtaining signatures from his neighbors on North Korean election ballots. Because he was unable to obtain any signatures the
Communist wrote the names of various neighbors on the ballots and used his own finger and toe prints as certification for the signatures.
By this method the Communist was able to furnish 8 false ballots to be used in the 25 August election. (CIC S/I 24 Aug. C-2)
