Counterintelligence. Subversive Activity. Illegal Activity of a Subversive Nature. TAEGU (1157 - 1439) - At 0900, 4 June 48, police arrested CHAE, Chang Jo, a member of the South Korea Democratic Women's Union, in the act of haranguing Post Office employees on the desirability of substituting a "People's Republic" for the present form of government in South Korea. (A-1) 3. Civil Relations. Civil Disturbances by Province. Cheju-Do: a. SANGCHON-NI (939 - 1127) - At 0400, 1 June 48, Police surprised a party of twenty raiders, killing six. Details are being sought. (B-3) b. SOHUNG-NI (955 - 1121) - At 1600, 2 June 48, police encountered a group of an unknown number of raiders. In the ensuing action three raiders were killed. (B-3) c. SANGHWAJON (939 - 1132) - At 2000, 1 June 48, Police encountered seventeen armed raiders. During a ten-minute fight two raiders were killed. (B-3) d. CHOCHON-NI (903 - 1154) - At 0030, 2 June 48, raiders attacked the town from three directions. Police repulsed the attackers after forty minutes of fighting. No casualties were reported. (B-3) 4. TAEGU (1157 - 1439) - At 0600, 3 June 48, police arrested four additional students who were charged with leading the anti-police demonstrations on 2 June 48. (G-2 P/R # 958, dtd 3 June 48.)
