WEEKLY ACTIVITIES OF KMAG
7 Feb - 13 Feb 1949

1. Secretary Royall briefed at KMAG and DND from 1100 - 1220 and briefing continued 1445 - 1520 USAFIK conference room, 8 Feb 1949.
2. Portfolio on history, organization, etc. on Army, Navy and Police presented upon departure.
3. Recommendations for future Table of Distribution of KMAG presented to Secretary on his departure.
4. Korean Army held a conference 11 Feb 49 for the purpose of correcting certain weaknesses in the Army supply and accountability system. American Advisors attended. Full agreement was reached. This should make great improvements in the future.
5. A much intensified schedule for training the Korean Army has been laid out with the 5th Regimental Combat Team. This training will consist of demonstrations by the Combat Team on small unit tactics, to include the company, and on the job training for certain commanders and unit staffs.
6. Operations:
a. Chaju Do - Operations have been intensified on Chaju Do in an effort to bring current operations to a rapid, successful conclusion.
b. Honam - As in Chaju Do, operations, this operation has been intensified with initial successes.
c. Pohang - Reference the Pohang rebellion, a total of eleven (11) rebels have been captured. Approximately 35 rebels are at large, these rebels have changed into civilian clothes. Korean Army considers this a police job from here on out. All data reference the escaped rebels has been turned over to the police.
d. 1st Brigade has been operating against small groups of the North Korean Army that crossed the 38° parallel (see "Results of Operations").
