1. a. Plans tentatively approved by President Rhee and Cabinet to increase size of Army from its currently authorized strength of 65,000 to 100,000. It is anticipated that new units will be only partially armed and equipped and will constitute the first source of replacements for tactical units now in being. Amer Advisors proposing a plan whereby increment is used to increase size of tactical units now in being rather than to form new units.
b. A study is being made by Hq KA as to advisability of moving DND and Hq KA from its present location to the compound now used by 5th US Inf Regt. Chief KMAG has not yet concurred in this project, as the expense involved will be considerable and the possibility of having top-level communications disrupted at a critical time is a major consideration.

d. The Onjin (887-1672) peninsula has been the scene of a considerable amount of confusion and activity during the past week.
On 30 May, an estimated 2 Cos (reinforced) Bo An Dae crossed 38th
N of Onjin and were engaged by elements of 12th Regt. Since then, KA has reinforced heavily and now have the entire 12th Regt (less small detachments), 2nd Bn 13th Regt and 1 AT Co in the area. Situation is fully under control.
4. G-3:
a. Trng insons of 3rd & 5th Divs now in progress.
b. Inspn of KMA commences 7 June.
c. 83 KA Off instructors at KMA have started a 5-week course under U.S Advisors.
d. Trp schools in all units for junior Off and NCO directed.
Subjects will include small unit tactics, capabilities of wpns, fire discipline and control and terrain analysis and use.
5. G-4:
a. A plan has been completed to effect redistribution of wpns throughout entire Army, with a view to arriving at an equitable distribution of 15,000 supplemental rifles.
b. Plan to procure winter uniforms has been implemented. It is anticipated that 110,000 winter uniforms will be produced.
c. Contract re-negotiations, arising as a result of the end of the fiscal year, have been completed.
