CG, XXIV Corps Chief, PMAG 20 December 1948 WLHtec
1. Situation Kang Won do: One small attack by approximately 30 men reported on Police box during weekend, near Mung Yang (S of Wonju). Several Police casualties. Constabulary reinforcing.
2. Korean G-2 reports North Koreans establishing a shallow zone on parallel, with apparent idea of preventing deserters moving South.
3. 8th Regt maintaining several patrols in area. Several reports indicate next North Korean troops to come South will come unarmed and will move to their former towns to further the organization of cells.
4. Situation Chaju do: Activities similar to previous reports, with considerable aid being rendered by natives.
1 Bn of 2nd Regt landed. One and one-half Bns of 9th Regt have been returned and closed in Hnajon.
5. Situation 5th Brig, Kwangju: Fight of approximately 19 hours near Naju between 1 Plat and Pol against about 200 Rebels. Approximately 30 Rebel casualties. A number of M-1 rifles and carbines recaptured.
6. Plans being made for integration of South Korean Security Forces into defense plan of ROK. Awaiting receipt of final American plan from 7th Div.
7. Four (4) Brig Gen, KG, in process of being promoted. Total at present will be five (5).
8. Graduation 1st Class Naval Military Academy at Chinhae 15 December.
9. Cannon Companies: 1 gun Co (6 guns) now at Kangnung.
3-four gun companies being prepared for Chunchon, Pochon, Yajin-ni.
Artillery trag scheduled to start 3 Jan for 1100 recruits at Arty Trag Center, Tong Dong Po.
10. Advisor messes being established at Regiments instead of concentrating all at Brigade.

11. Recruits to date, 10,618. Korean Constabulary strength,
54,228, as of 15 December. Goal is 65,000.
12. All installation guarding now turned over to Police except R3 guards. This is slowly turning over and will be complete by 7 January.
13. Correspondence Course Section (American and Korean) established. Designed to assist in raising standard of Military
Education of Officers and NCO's.
14. Corps of Interpreters being recruited to further assist in understanding and training.
15. Korean Coast Guard now located in old 377th Hospital building; telephone Shanghai 23 (directly off Security).
16. Additional field grade Officers (13) have been ordered to PMAG from retainable Officers in Korea. In addition, 8 Officers with experience on the China Military Advisory Group are being requested from FEC. This assignment of Officers from China has been cleared with G-1, FEC. Upon completion of these transfers, PMAG will be up to authorized permanent Officer strength of 22.
17. Situation on logistical support for PMAG as between
AMIK and USAFIK, still up in the air. Clarification would assist in planning.
