333 CO, USAFIK Chief, PMAG 1 December 1948 WLR:oo 1. Investigation into selling Army supplies in 5th Brigade completed. Found no shortage and all accounted for. Brigade Finance Officer short over 1,000,000 won. 4th Regtl CO was found responsible for misuse of 4,211,770 won. Inspector recommended that 4th Regtl CO be dismissed and further finance investigation be made of C/S and Finance Officer. In Korean hands for action. 2. Mr Heming, Requirements Section, USOCS, investigated for us, while in Japan, the status of ammunition and spare parts for Jap 99 Rifles. He states there is some in Japan. As the new brigade now in process of organization is planning on using some of these Jap rifles, an adequate supply of ammo is desired. Requisition for an adequate amount is being prepared. 3. CHEJU DO - Raiders burned estimated 700 homes in Namseon (Cheju do) and killed estimated 55 civilians. Reports give about 500 in raiding party, several hundred unarmed. Army troops pursuing after being hardly informed. 4. Since the equipment of the 7th Div Res troop will not be available for turn-over to Korean Army for some time to come, request is being prepared for delivery from United States. 5. 113,000 rounds 105 ammo received at Pusan, consigned to Korean Army. 6. Correspondence Course Section being set up at Hq, KA. 7. Reported attack yesterday at Kaesong by 200 denied by CIC. Only casualties found were two cows. 8. Hand grenade heaved into Police box Inchon yesterday. 9. Defense Minister earnestly requests as follows: a. Some small Naval ships, such as destroyers, escorts or submarines and PT boats, in order to stop Communist invasion from the West (China Coast Communists). b. Some combat airplanes. c. SOUTHWEST - Elements of 2nd Brig, Kurye area, on 29 Nov captured 10 M-1's, 1 BAR, 1 Carbine and other material. 3 Rebels killed, 5 Rebels and 15 Civilians captured, 1 EM 12th Regt killed. 11. NORTHEAST - 70 raiders armed with pistols and SMG's contacted near Yongwol 29 Nov; no results known. - Brig Ex, 4th Brig, this date estimated 80 enemy left of 1 Bn (150 men). Says 40 killed and 30 prisoners total taken from it. States Bn Comir killed and no one else in enemy unit now know mission. Our 8th Regt has advance CP at Yongwol with 3 Co's as garrison. Elements all 3 Regts operating. Using as training. Some 7th Div Rcn Trps reported at Yongwol. - 1 Plat, KA Rcn Trp, moving to Yongpyong (40 mi N of Seoul) for 3-day search of reported concentration of Democratic People's Liberation Army 12. Regtl Commander from Chaju do reports during week 20-27 November 122 Rebels were captured and 576 killed; between 1 Oct and 30 Nov 1325 killed, 1383 captured.
