None reported. 2. Counterintelligence. Subversive Activity. a. Sabotage. CHEJU-UP (951 - 1152) - During the morning of 1 May 48, telephone lines from CHEJU-UP to HAGWI-RI (940 - 1148) were cut. (B-2) b. Terrorism. (1) TOPYONG-NI (944 - 1149) - At 1300, 1 May 48, the Chairman of an Election Committee was stabbed to death by unknown assailants. Police are investigating. (B-2) (2) KO-NAN (approximately 1235 - 1464) - (not on map) - During the night of 30 April-1 May 48, a local rightist was killed by a group of twenty unidentified persons. (B-2) c. Illegal Activity of a Subversive Nature. POHANG (1232 - 1400) - At 0230, 1 May 48, police attempted to question several men who were distributing handbills announcing a South Korea Labor Party meeting on 1 May 48. When one of the men attempted to seize a policeman's rifle the policeman shot his assailant to death. The bullet passed through the man and killed a woman bystander. (A-1) 3. Civil Relations. Civil Disturbances by Province. Cheju-Do: ORA-RI (951 - 1149) - At 1530, 1 May 48, police arrived to disperse a group of raiders who were attacking the village. The attackers fled.
