ARMED FORCES North Korean Constabularymen Observed South of Parallel At 170420 September a U.S. combat outpost at (937.6 - 1695.4) observed 5 North Korean Constabularymen at (937.8 - 1696.4). The outpost fired 5 rounds and the North Korean Constabularymen withdrew, one North Korean Constabularyman being carried. (7th Div Flash Report. General (1) Raiders and Collaborators Arrested on CHEJU-DO On 14 September the CHEJU-DO Police arrested 13 persons in DO-YUN-RI (957 - 1148) suspected of raider activities. On 12 September 45 persons in CHUNGMUN Myun (940 - 1120) were arrested for furnishing food to raider groups. (CIC P/R #218. C-2) (2) Handbills Distributed in PUSAN (Delayed Report) On 04 September handbills supporting the North Korean Supreme People's Council were distributed in theaters, market places and other crowded areas in PUSAN by the DEMOCRATIC PATRIOTIC YOUNG MEN'S ASSOCIATION. C-3) (3) Communists Attempt to Secure U.S. Weapons The SOUTH KOREA LABOR PARTY in PUSAN is reportedly securing weapons from American soldiers by furnishing Confidential DECLASSIFIED Authority NND 728670 Confidential XXIV CORPS G-2 P/R #940 the soldiers with young girls and prostitutes, who get the soldiers drunk and then steal their weapons. (CIC P/R #218. Police Report) 4. PSYCHOLOGICAL a. Translation of SEOUL Newspapers. (See Incl. #1) b. National Defense Association Organized in PUSAN A National Defense Association, including in its membership the KYONGSANG-NAMDO governor and the mayor of PUSAN, has reportedly been organized in PUSAN to promote friendship and understanding between the Korean Army and civilian employees of the Korean government and to further inform the people of the purpose of the Army (GIC P/R #218.
