정보참모부 정기보고 보고 기간: 1948년 4월 27일~1948년 4월 28일 제6보병사단 사령부 부산, 조선 1948년 4월 28일 제922호 2. 방첩 불온적 활동 a. 사보타주 (1) 제주읍 (951-1151) - 1948년 4월 26일 정오부터 27일 오전 8시 사이에 제주읍과 서귀리(955-1159)를 잇는 전화선이 절단됐다. (A-1) c. 파괴 성향의 불법 활동 (3) 조천리 (963-1154) - 제20보병연대 정찰대는 경찰에 조직적으로 대항하라고 촉구하는 삐라를 습득했다. (A-1) 3. 대민관계 도별 민간인 소요 a. 경상북도 : (2) 김천 (1111-1468) - 1948년 4월 28일 오전 10시, 5·10총선 후보 백원(PAK, Won, 62세)이 몽둥이로 무장한 신원 미상의 무리에 의해 구타당해 사망했다. 사망 당시 그는 김천 교외에 있는 황금동의 거리를 거닐던 중이었다. (B-2) c. 제주도: 서동(SO-DONG, 958-1149) - 1948년 4월 27일, 경찰과 무장대가 마주쳐 교전을 벌였다. 무장대원 1명이 체포됐으나 보고된 사상자는 없다. 무장대는 기관총을 사용했다. (A-1) 5. 기타 a. 좌표 (953-1148) - 1948년 4월 26일, 좌표 지점에서 (인근 지역 주민의 말에 따르면) 경찰에 의해 피살된 조선인 5명의 시체가 발견됐다. 지역 공무원들은 그 5명이 무장대에 투항한 뒤 피살됐다는 견해를 밝혔다. (B-2)
Confidential G-2 PERIODIC REPORT From: 1800I 27 Apr 48 To : 1800I 28 Apr 48 HQ 6TH INF DIV Pusan, Korea 1900I 28 April 1948 No. 922. MAPS: KOREA, 1/250,000. 1. Non-Operational Intelligence. None reported. 2. Counterintelligence. Subversive Activity. a. Sabotage. (1) CHEJU-UP (951 - 1151) - During the period, 1200, 26 April 48, to 0800, 27 April 48, telephone lines between CHEJU-UP and SOGWI-RI (955 - 1119) were cut. (A-1) (2) CHIN-AK Mountain (905 - 1145) - During the evening of 24 April 48, two Koreans were killed by the police, when discovered cutting the telephone lines during an attack on a Police box. (B-2) (3) YONGPYONG-NI (957 - 1148) - On 27 April 48, the road into the town was ditched to prevent entrance. (A-1) b. Terrorism. YONGWIL-DONG (1218 - 1455) - (not on map) - At 0120, 26 April 48, five leftists fired and completely destroyed the home of AN, Sang Ku, local leader of the United Young Men's Party. The police were unable to apprehend the five leftists, who escaped into the mountains. (C-3) c. Illegal Activity of a Subversive Nature. (1) YONSANPO (972 - 1332) - At 0200, 27 April 48, three men, armed with a pistol, Jap Rifle, and a sword, entered the Railroad Police substation where they tied up the policeman on duty and departed with two U.S. Carbines, 81 rounds of ammunition and one Jap Rifle. (A-1) (2) CHONJU (1014 - 1431) - On 23 April 48, twenty-one jailers were placed under arrest, when they confessed planning the release of all prisoners at the Provincial Jail at 1000, 10 May 48. (B-2) (3) CHOOHON-NI (903 - 1154) - Twentieth Infantry patrols picked up handbills which urged the natives to organize against the police. (A-1) 3. Civil Relations. Civil Disturbances by Province. a. Kyongsang-North: (1) Yang Bang Nyun (1240 - 1432) - At 0200, 28 April 48, ten men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun, attacked and killed the local leader of the United Young Men's Party. The assailants fled to the mountains. Police are investigating. (C-3) (2) KUMCHON (1111 - 1468) - At 1000, 28 April 48, PAK, Won, age 62, a candidate in the 10 May elections, was attacked and beaten to death by a group of unidentified persons, armed with clubs, while walking along the street in HWANG KUN DONG, a suburb of KUMCHON. Cholla-South: SONGAMNI (962 - 1347) - (not on map) - At 1630, 27 April 48, police from NAJU (971 - 1336), attempted to enter a house where they had received information an illegal meeting was being held. Seven men armed either with shotguns or rifles emerged from the house and engaged the police with fire for approximately an hour. Two of the men were killed. The remainder escaped, leaving behind two shotguns, two Jap swords and four home-made bombs. Police believe that three of the men are those involved in the incident in paragraph 2c (1), above. (B-2) c. Cheju-Do: SO-LONG (958 - 1149) - (not on map) - On 27 April 48, the police and a raiding group met and exchanged fire. One member of the group was captured but no casualties were reported. Machine guns were used by the group. (A-1) 4. Summary of Intelligence in Adjacent Areas. None reported. 5. Miscellaneous. a. At coordinates (953 - 1148) - on 26 April 48, the bodies of five Koreans were found when the natives in the immediate area stated were killed by the police. Local officials are of the opinion that the five were killed after they had surrendered to a raiding party.
