Counterintelligence. Subversive Activity. Illegal Activity of a subversive Nature. SANNAN LYUN (1212- 1397) - On 6 May 48, two policemen raided a meeting of six Leftists, who were planning an anti-election demonstration. When the leftists resisted arrest, one of the policemen fired his weapon, killing one man. The other policeman disappeared. (B-2) 3. Civil Relations. a. Political Parties. MASAN (1156 - 1357) - On 6 May 48, police investigation prompted by alleged anti-election statements made by employees of the MASAN Prison, resulted in the arrest of eight prison officials who had been charged with holding membership in the South Korea Labor Party. (A-1) b. Civil Disturbances by province. (1) Kyongsang North: (a) HOJI (1138 - 1531) - About 0200, 5 May 48, ten men armed with poles and hand grenades, attacked the police sub-station. The police opened fire and dispersed the group. No casualties reported. Prior to the attack, the group had constructed a road block between the main police station and the sub-station. (C-3) (b) CHIBO-RI (1134 - 1519) - About 0130, 5 May 48, two groups of about twenty-five men each attacked the Myun office simultaneously. The Chief of the police sub-station opened fire and dispersed the crowds. No casualties reported. (C-3) (c) TAEGU (1157 - 1439) - About 2130, 6 May 48, the Chief of Police of No. 24 Police Station, Talsong Gun, while riding in his car near the Newsan Police Box, was attacked by a group of young men. Shots from the Chief's pistol dispersed the group. No casualties reported (B-2) (2) Cheju-Do: 't coordinates (926 - 1121) at 0420, 6 May 48, a raid was made on a DECLASSIFIED Authority NND745070 Confidential Confidential local police box. CHINHAL (1165 - 1353) - At 2400, 6 May 48, the police apprehended KIM, Young Ok, a local contractor, and CHUN, Mu Doug, a member of the South Korea Labor Party, in connection with the City Hall fire on 10 March 1948.
