Subversive activity.
a. Sabotage.
(1) TAMYANG (998 - 1371) - (Delayed) - At 0350, 7 April 48, unknown persons set fire to a registration booth. The local fire department extinguished the fire. No appreciable damage was reported. (B-2)
(2) KWANGJU (990 - 1350) - (Delayed) - At 0830, 9 April 48, striking employees of the Post Office cut several telephone lines leading from the Post Office and destroyed equipment in the building. Police averted additional property damage by arresting the strike leaders. (A-1)
b. Illegal Activity of a Subversive Nature.
(1) Ponghwang Myun (974 - 1328) - (Delayed) - At 0600, 5 April 48, CHOI, Chung Nak, chairman of the local registration committee was fired at several times by unidentified assassins as he left the registration office. At the time CHOI was accompanied by several other officials who fled during the attack. At 0800, 6 April 48, CHOI's body was recovered from a rice paddy, 100 yards from the scene of the shooting. (2) Yong Wang Myun (954 - 1369) - (Delayed) - At 2300, 6 April 48, four men entered the home of the Myun Mayor and after beating the official carried away the registration records. (B-2)
(3) Murya Myun (1173 - 1572) - (Delayed) - At 0200, 9 April 48, 20 leftists attacked the Myun office and demanded that the official on duty surrender the registration records. When the official denied knowing where the records could be found the crowd beat him and then fled. (F-6)
(4) KWANGJU (990 - 1350) - (Delayed) - At 1700, 7 April 48, six men attacked two clerks in the Kyang Kun registration booth. The clerks were lectured for taking part in the registration, then beaten. No records were destroyed. (B-2)

Cheju-Do:
SINUI (949 - 1152) - (not on map) - During the night of 10 April 48, three Rightists were killed during a leftist raid on the town. (A-1)
HEYOL (948 - 1152) - (not on map) - On 10 April 48, one policeman and one Rightist civilian were wounded in an attack on a police sub-station. Additional details are being sought. (A-1)

5. Miscellaneous.
PUSAN: At 0315, 9 April 48, an enlisted man of the 11th Medium Port Bn, posted as a sentry at a warehouse on Hikino Shima, surprised a Korean in the act of stealing a coil of rope from the warehouse. When the Korean ignored the guard's order to halt and continued to flee after the sentry had fired into the air, the sentry fired at the Korean hitting him in the back. The wounded man was taken to the PUSAN Hospital.
