OPERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE. a. North Korean Activity. Remember BENNING!! 31st Inf, "F" Co (1187.0-1668.0) reported that a U.S. patrol visited CHANG-NI (1157.7-1696.8) and were informed by the Chief of Police that he observed approximately forty (40) North Korean Constabularymen (BO AN DAE) conducting a field problem with live ammunition at (1156.7-1698.4) at 1630 hours, 21 April. (C-3) 2. COUNTER INTELLIGENCE. a. Security. Intruder Fired On: 31st Inf reported that the 31st Inf guard post #16 (Rifle Range) at 2105 hours, 22 April fired one (1) round at an unidentified intruder who failed to halt when challenged. (B-2) 3. CIVIL RELATIONS. a. Political Parties And Other Organizations. Leftist Propaganda: The following articles were picked up by the Staff Duty Officer, 32nd Inf outside the 32nd Inf gate located near the Officer's Club at 0930 hours, 21 April: "Lets knock down the individual election and throw away the register and have to restrain to the constrain register mens, by our peoples power." SUMMARY OF INTELLIGENCE IN ADJACENT AREAS. a. 6th Division Zone Troubled: Intelligence sources indicate considerable unrest in the 6th Division Zone of Responsibility. Riots and attacks have broken out on CHEJU-DO Island, and police stations in the South western part of Korea have been attacked repeatedly. U.S. Communication Cables Cut: (XXIV) The signal corps cables between ASCOM (970-1640) and INCHON (960-1630) were cut between 192300 and 192330 April approximately two and one-half (2½) miles southwest of ASCOM. All eight (8) lines were plainly severed and two (2) poles were completely sawed in half and lying in the field. (Signal Corps. A-1) 5. MISCELLANEOUS. a. Train Movements: The U.S. northbound Liaison Train departed SEOUL for PYONGYANG, North Korea, at 0935 hours, 23 April, arrived TOSONG-NI at 1135 hours, and cleared at 1200 hours, 23 April.
