유엔조선임시위원단 의장이 주한미육군사령관에게 보내는 서한
하지 장군께,
1948년 4월 2일 귀하가 보낸 편지에 대해 언급하고자 합니다. 유엔조선임시위원단은 제기된 쟁점을 검토한 뒤 오늘 아침 열린 위원단의 31차 회의에서 선거일을 5월 9일에서 5월 10일로 하루 늦추자는 귀하의 제안에 동의하기로 결정했음을 알려드립니다.
이런 결정을 내리면서, 위원단은 선거 연기가 선거절차에 미치게 될 그 어떠한 법적인 영향에 대해서도 책임 있는 당국이 고려할 것이라고 믿습니다.

LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE
UNITED NATIONS TEMPORARY COMMISSION ON KOREA
TO THE COMMANDING GENERAL
UNITED STATES ARMY FORCES IN KOREA
3 April 1948
Dear General Hodge,
I desire to refer to your letter of 2 April 1948 and to advise you that the United Nations Temporary Commission on Korea, after consideration of the issues raised, decided at its thirty-first meeting this morning to concur in your proposal for a one-day postponement of the election, i.e.
from 9 to 10 May 1948.
In making this decision the Commission presumes that any legal implications affecting electoral procedures which may arise from the postponement will be taken into account by the responsible authorities.
