3. 민간인 소요
a. 제주도에서 공산주의 활동 확인 귀덕리(928-1144)에서 체포된 포로를 심문한 결과, 제주도 폭동에 공산주의자 들이 부분적으로 책임이 있다는 증거를 얻어냈다. 사망한 무장대 1명은 남로당 마을 조직책으로 확인됐으며, 포로들은 다른 무장대원들이 남로당의 통제와 지휘를 받고 있다고 진술했다. (미군정보고, B-2)
b. 제주도에서 통신장비 압수 조천리(963-1155) 수색에서 경찰은 일본제 야전 전화기 1대와 일본제 라디오 1대, 다량의 전선을 압수하였다. 모든 장비는 상태가 좋았고 최근까지 사용된 것으로 보인다. (미군정보고, B-2)

1. ARMED FORCES
a. North Korean Constabularymen and Police Clash in KANGWON-DO
At 051200 June six North Korean Constabularymen came south of the parallel approximately 900 yards east of CHUJUL-NI (1082-1696), fired at South Korean police in the area and withdrew at 1330 hours. One policeman was wounded but no casualties were observed among the NKC. (CIC P/R #133, B-3)
b. South Korean Farmer Wounded Near Parallel
At 050750 June a South Korean farmer was shot and seriously wounded by a SOVIET soldier in the vicinity of (854.4-1697.6). (7th Div. Flash report - B-2)
2. POLITICAL ACTIVITIES
Student Groups To Merge
An attempt is being made to create a combined student organization, the KOREAN INDEPENDENT STUDENT'S FRONT, which would include the GREAT KOREA STUDENTS LEAGUE, NORTH KOREA STUDENTS LEAGUES, the ALL KOREA STUDENTS LEAGUE and any other student organizations which are opposed to a separate government. This front will support the plan to have all middle-road parties enter the Upper House after it is established by the National Assembly. The support of this plan does not express approval of a separate government, but is considered an opportunity to legally fight the government. (CIC S/I, 03 June B-3)
COMMENT: There is no evidence yet available as to whether the new legislature will be bicameral.
3. CIVIL UNREST
a. Communist Activities On CHEJU DO Confirmed
Interrogation of raiders captured from the village of WIDONG-NI (928-1144) furnished proof that communists have been partly responsible for violence on CHEJUL-DO. One raider killed was identified as the village leader of the SOUTH KOREA LABOR PARTY and prisoners stated that other raiders are controlled and directed by the SKLP. (MG report B-2)
b. Communication Equipment Confiscated on CHEJUL-DO
A search of CHOCHON-NI (963-1155) by the police resulted in the confiscation of a Japanese field phone, one Japanese radio and a large quantity of wire. All the equipment was in excellent condition and appeared to have been recently operated. (MG report B-2)

c. Terrorism in CHOLLA-FUKTO
(1) On 02 June approximately 30 rioters armed with clubs attacked the home of the Chairman of the NATIONAL SOCIETY FOR THE ACCELERATION OF KOREAN INDEPENDENCE in DAI YUL RI (1038-1381). The mob tied the family, then destroyed furniture and clothing, set fire to the house and distributed communist handbills. (CIC P/R #133, B-3)
(2) On 02 June approximately 100 mobsters surrounded the home of a KOREAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY member in PUNG SAN NI (1025-1381), searched his home, stole food, furniture and clothing and then set fire to the house. The mob then located the KDP member at a friends home, severely beat him, scattered communist handbills and escaped. (CIC P/R #133 B-3)
d. Communist Demonstrate In CHUNGCHONG-NAMDO (Delayed Report)
On 31 May a mob of about 100 communists paraded in TAEJON (1040-1490), sang communist songs and distributed handbills demanding the withdrawal of U.S. troops and the UN Commission and condemning the South Korean government. The mob dispersed before the police arrived. (CIC P/R #133, B-2)
e. Rightist Home Attacked In CHUNGCHONG-NAMDO
On 03 June 10 rioters attacked the home of a block-master in SINDAE NI (1004-1484). After beating the block-master and breaking furniture the mob set fire to the house and fled. (CIC P/R #133, B-2)
f. Terrorism In CHOLLA-FUKTO (Delayed Report)
On 29 May 10 rioters attacked and severely beat a civilian in CHUNGWOL-NI (994-1374). (CIC P/R #133 - Police report)
