These men were trained for a period of two months at the NAM JUNG School in CHUNG JIN City, North Korea and sent to South Korea sometime in January 1947. In school they were taught the fundamentals of an arsonist and the principles of gathering information. Each party, usually composed of six to ten men, boards a ship disguised as fishermen, engages in fishing during the day, and lands in the harbors and try to contact political groups. (1) Extract from KWANGJU District CIC Report #524, 7 March 1947: "From various sources this office has received rumours which tend to indicate that more subversive elements have infiltrated into South Korea from North Korea. These elements in the disguise of Christian pastors left SARIWN, North Korea at the beginning of the year and roam unmolested throughout South Korea. These so-called pastors recruited from South Korea were trained for assassination purposes. Upon graduation they were sent back to their native villages and at present are trying to locate the addresses of members of the Democratic Council whom they are supposed to assassinate. This office is trying to uncover the root and the authenticity of these rumours."
