Various handbills were distributed throughout Cheju on and around 15 June 1947, which were leftist in content and ideas. Investigation revealed that the students were used as the distributers out that they had believed that the posters were the truth and were told that they would be helping Korea to reach independence. The handbills pertained to the Joint Commission and as already stated, were of leftist nature. All but two of the students were innocent of political affiliations. (8) (8).
