MISCELLANEOUS (2) Japanese Boat Intercepted At Sea With 48 Koreans (Delayed Report) The TAIFUKU MARU, diesel powered, was intercepted at sea (1212-1170) at 280914 May 47, by an Australian destroyer, HMS QUIBERON, on KYUSHU patrol. The vessel had sailed from PUSAN, KOREA, without clearance paper, with 48 Koreans, including the crew, aboard. The captain of the ship stated that he had cleared PUSAN for CHEJU DO, also in KOREA. No cargo was reported on the ship. The Koreans will be deported to KOREA and Japanese authorities are handling disposition of the vessel. (Eighth Army F/R #584) (5) 49 Koreans Apprehended In JAPAN (Delayed Report) I Corps reports the following illegal Korean immigration: A 13 ton, 50 horsepower, diesel-powered ship, DAIUF MARU, was approhend ed at 260600 May 47 with 49 Koreans, including the crew of six, aboard. The vessel, apprehended at KAGASHIMA (1320-985), KAGOSHIMA prefecture, carried no car and sailed from CHEJU-DO, KOREA, on 23 May 47. Destination was OSAKA (1050-1290), OSAKA Fu. The owner of the vessel, at present in CHEJU-DO, received 3000 yen from each passenger for the trip. The Koreans will be deported to KOREA and the vessel will be disposed of by Japanese authorities.
