많은 사람들이 서신에서 남한 내 암시장 거래와 일본을 왕래하는 불법선적에 대하여 계속 논의하고 있다. 신한주식회사(New Korea Company)의 한 지방직원이 지난 5월 16일에 쓴 서신은 이러한 끊임없는 서신왕래의 정도를 잘 보여주고 있다. “만약 저들이 회계장부를 검사해서 내가 회사 자금 1만 7,000원을 써버린 것을 안다면 저들은 나를 기소할 것이다…” 5월 13일자 부산에서 보낸 한 편지는 제주도가 한국과 일본 사이 밀무역의 주요 연결고리 역할을 하고 있다고 언급하고 있다.

Numerous letters continued to discuss black market activities within South Korea and illegal shipping to and from Japan. The limit for indiscrete correspondence was probably reached by one local official of the New Korea Company, who wrote on 16 May: "If they should examine the books now and discover that I spent ¥17,000 of the company's money I shall be liable for pro- ecution..." A 13 May letter from FUSAN cited the island of OHEUJU-DO (9b0. 1130) as a principal link in the illegal traffic between South Korea and Japan.
