(1) 게릴라 손실

Weekly Activities of KMAG

KMAG
1. a. A conference was conducted 23 June by Chief, KMAG with all Advisors,
1st and 7th Divisions and Senior Advisors 3rd, 5th and 6th Divisions attending, for the purpose of reviewing in detail, plans for training and defense plans for
KA. A revised training program to carry KA thru the current year was discussed.
b. C/S KA and members of KA General and Special Staff held a parallel meeting with commanders of 1st, 6th and 7th Divisions to discuss training and to review defense plans. A similar conference will be held in the near future at TAEJON with commanders of 3rd and 5th Divisions.
c. This report is the last report of KMAG activities to be submitted to USAFIK. Hereafter, the report will go directly to Dept of Army with 5 info copies to CINCFE.
d. Redistribution of KA troop units has been completed, with the exception of the 21st Regt.
e. For the time being, KA Hq has been dissuaded from activating three corps headquarters.
f. The move of JMD and Hq KA from its present location to the former
US 7th Division area will take place on or about 29 June 49.
2. G-1 Activities.
US Officer personnel: Total 155, gains 0, losses 4.
US Enl personnel: Total 325, gains 15, losses 2.
US Civilian personnel: Total 12, gains 0, losses 0.
All personnel who have been on DS with USAFIK reported for duty by 25
June 1949.
3. G-2 Activities.
a. There were 21 Border incidents during the period 18 - 24 June 1949, with the following results:

The above casualties were incurred primarily on the ONGJIN Peninsula, a small portion of which is still in the hands of North Korean forces.
b. There were 31 incidents reported in the interior of SOUTH
KOREA during the period 16 June - 24 June. Results:

c. The following is a summary of operations on CHEJU DO from
28 Dec 1948 to 15 June 1949:
(1) Guerrilla Losses:
KIA: 2421
POW: 6650
Weapons: 230 including 1 mortar and 6 automatic weapons.
(2) Friendly Losses:
KIA: 100
WIA: 55
Weapons lost: 5, including 1 BAR.
d. The following is a summary of operation against the KANG DONG
Political School who had attempted to infiltrate in SOUTH KOREA. As the original group is estimated to have numbered 300, it appears that effort has been totally unsuccessful.
4. G-3 Activities.
a. G-3 FEC and party arrived 20 June for a one day conference and inspection.
b. A C-47 aircraft has been authorized Chief, KMAG, as a stand-by plane, based on ITAZUKE for emergency evacuation and supply.
c. Four new memoranda are in the process of distribution, in-
cluding:
(1) New training directive
(2) Revised qualification firing
(3) Instructions on Advisor-counterpart relationships
(4) Results of training inspections.

d. Two new Division Hqs, the Capitol and 8th Division, were activated 20 June. The former is stationed in SEOUL and the latter is stationed at KANGWON. Each of these new division will be organized short one regiment temporarily.
3. G-4 Activities.
a. Progress is being made in establishing new accounts to receive property destined for delivery to South Korean Security Forces.
b. The great bulk of real estate held by USAFIK has been released to the Korean government, with exception of those installations retained for KMAG.
