WEEKLY ACTIVITIES OF KMAG GO, USAFIK Chief, KMAG 19 Jan 49 WLR:ee 1. Result of Operations, 10 through 16 Jan: Kangwon-do: Negative Cholla-do: 32 K, 24 Captured, 2 Carbines Cheju-do: 66 K, 1 M-1, 5 Carbines, 10 Jan 99 Chung Chong-Fukto: 4 Captured 2. Brig Advisors inform this office that winter training is holding to schedule and many planned small unit exercises are to be held. Definite progress noted. Week characterized by many moves and senior Officer changes. 3. Brigades as presently set up: 1st Brig: 11, 12, 13 Regts Col Kim Guk Won 2nd Brig: 3, 18, 19 Regts Col Cho Won Gai 3rd Brig: 5, 6, 16 Regts Col Cho Duk Shin 5th Brig: 2, 15, 20 Regts Col Won (resigning) 6th Brig: 7, 9, 10 Regts Col Kim Pak Il 7th Brig: 1, 9, 17 Regts Col Lee Jun Sik 3. First correspondence courses sent to Brigs and Regts. Unit Commanders conduct classes of Officers and NCO's using material furnished. 4. Both American and Korean radio operate with Kangnung. 5. Korean Army Boxing Tournament scheduled 19 January. 6. KCG strength: 4800 7. Troops of 12th Regt which entered houses in Inchon last week are now paying - several courts-martial are scheduled, including that of 3 Officers. 8. Chief, KMAG, prevented DND from forming small empire by augmenting MP Corps and making it responsible only to Supreme C/S and regulating it similarly to old Japanese MP's. 9. Efforts to get supply and finance powers away from Korean Army into Bureau of Intendance snuffed. 11. MP's impounding all Korean vehicles with unauthorized sirens and red lights. 12. 3 additional battalions moved into Kurye-Chiri San area for Rebel operations. 4 Brigs have units operating against Rebels. 13. Several Reserve Regiments have started recruiting. 14. 670 Officers promoted. 9 field Officers appointed (were former Japanese or Chinese Officers). 15.
