Secret HEADQUARTERS XXIV CORPS APO 235 20 November 1948 From: 121800 Nov 48 To : 191800 Nov 48 No. 58 (Reports Control Symbol 400-04) G-3 OPERATIONS REPORT 1. LOCATION OF TROOPS No major change. 2. WEATHER AND VISIBILITY Cool and clear. Favorable to air and ground operations. 3. OPERATIONS FOR THE PERIOD a. 6th Infantry Division: (1) Effective 15 November 1948 the following unit was reduced to record status: "A" Battery, 1st Field Artillery Battalion. (2) During the period 0 Military and 20,743 Civilian Measurement Tons were discharged at the port of Pusan. (3) During the period 7 to 14 November 1948, 15,925 Military Measurement Tons were outloaded at the port of Pusan. b. 7th Infantry Division: (1) (Delayed) "K" Company, 31st Infantry Regiment departed Camp Taejon (1037.0-1497.0) 11 1005 November 1948, closed 31st Infantry Regimental area (992.1-1639.8) 11 1750 November 1948. This is a permanent change of station. (2) Patrols conducted for intelligence and security were as follows: 32nd Infantry Regiment, 8 motorized and 92 foot patrols; 48th Field Artillery Battalion, 1 motorized patrol. c. Korea Base Command: (1) Effective 15 November 1948 the following unit was reduced to record status: 23d Transportation Truck Company. (2) During the period, 3085 Military Measurement Tons were discharged at the port of Inchon. (3) During the period, 7 to 14 November 1948, 8112 Military Measurement Tons were outloaded at the port of Inchon. d. 61st Ordnance Group: Effective 15 November 1948 the following units were reduced to record status: 34th Ordnance Depot Company 90th Ordnance Battalion. e. Special Troops, XXIV Corps: Effective 17 November 1948 the following unit was reduced to record status: 27th Special Service Company. DECLASSIFIED Authority NND 943500 Secret Secret 4. RESULTS OF OPERATIONS Minor troop displacements were effected. All major commands continued normal occupation duties. 5. MISCELLANEOUS a. Korean Coast Guard: During the period the Korean Coast Guard investigated 175 vessels operating in Korean waters; 2 were arrested operating illegally and sent to port under guard. b. Korean Constabulary: (1) Units of the 2d and 5th Constabulary Brigades are continuing mop-up operations in the Chiri-San area and Cheju-Do. (2) During the period the Korean Constabulary reported that 166 prisoners have been taken and 175 enemy killed in the mop-up operations. c. During the period 2360 Koreans crossed the 38° Parallel from North Korea and entered camps at Chuminjin, Uijongbu, Kaesong, and Chunchon. Andrew C. Tychsen ANDREW C.
