3. 10월 3일 주말 한국과 미국 선임장교들이 함께 제주도를 방문했다. 보고에
따르면 첫 공격이 있는 후 조용한 상태이다.
그러나 이 지역에서 다른 활동들이 예상되는바, 그것은 불온적 집단인 남로당에 의한 어느 정도 조직화된 활동일 것이다. 경찰, 경비대, 해안경비대, 그리고 지 방 관리들이 잘 협조하고 있다. CIA가 모든 정보원으로부터 정보를 수집하고 활 용하기 위해 조직됐고, 이번 주 정보참모부 아래에 진용을 갖췄다. 추가로 제주도에 갈 대대가 이동을 준비하고 있다. 10월 20일께 이동한다. 모든 계획과 업무가 한국인에 의해 진행되고 있다. 공급 부족이 확인돼 수정되고 있다. 거기서 진행된 이동과 소규모 작전은 부대와 간부들에겐 최고의 훈련이 될 것이다.

1. Advisor to Minister of National Defense lectured 2 hours to Officers'
Training School, 7 October. Objective mainly to impress senior Korean Officers that senior Officers in American Army may instruct without loss of dignity.
2. CG, USAFIK inspected Korean Officers' Training School 7 October.
3. Mixed group of senior Korean and American Officers visited Chaju Do week-end 8 October. Report indicates quiet after initial raid. However, other activities are expected in this locality which is believed to be partially organized by the South Korean Labor Party, a subversive group. Excellent cooperation between Police, Constabulary, Coast Guard and local officials. Central
Intelligence Agency organized to collect and use information from all sources, established during week, under G-2. Additional Battalion preparing to move to
Chaju Do. To move o/a 20 October. All planning and Staff work being done by
Koreans. Supply deficiencies found by group being rectified. Believe move and any minor operations held there are best training troops and leaders can get.
4. Releasing all Officers and NCO's not in permanent T/O positions as of 15 December 1948. Remaining after that date will be 90 Officers and 30 EM.
5. XXIV Corps team inspected PMAG activities and installations 7 October.
6. Department of National Defense and PMAG expect to start moving into
Land Office Building o/a 1 November.
7. Engineer work on OTS rifle range, and road and bridge work completed by Constabulary Engineer Bn.
8. 155 Special Cadets (ex-Officers) to be graduated 12 October. 80 others to remain additional month.
9. 18 Medical Officer candidates accepted; now being indoctrinated at
OTS.
10. 200 Radio operators graduate 11 October.
11. About 30,000 pairs of shoes have been cut down from American large
