1월 19일자 한국군 정보보고서는 한국군이 현재 폭도들이 한국 전역에서 한국군과 경찰 희생자의 시신에서 제복을 벗겨내고 있다는 사실에 주목하고 있음을 보여주고 있다.
최근 몇 주 동안 토벌대 제복을 입은 게릴라와 교전을 벌인 몇 건의 사건이 있었다. 마천에서는 두 차례나 한국군 복장을 한 폭도들이 경찰을 살해했고(일일정보보고 제 1017～1022호), 군인 복장을 한 폭도 6명이 1월 3일 제주도의 삼양리에 나타나 마을의 우익들을 집합시키고 발포하여 31명을 사살했다. 또한 강원도 경찰보고에 따르면, 1월 18일 한국군에서 탈주한 공산주의자 3명이 삼척에서 교전 중 사살되었는데 이들도 경찰 복장을 하고 있었다.
논평 : 폭도들의 군복수집은 토벌대로 가장한 테러분자들이 폭력 행위를 증가시킬 것임을 예감케 한다. 공산주의자들의 이러한 전략은 현재의 군경간의 우호관계를 해칠 것이며 군경에 대한 대중적 신뢰감을 저하시킬 것이다.

(1) Raiders Collect Police and Army Uniforms
A Korean Army Intelligence report on 19 January noted that rebel raiders throughout South KOREA now are making a practice of stripping the dead bodies of KA and police victims.
There have been several incidents in recent weeks where guerrillas have been encountered in security force uniforms. Twice police wore killed at MACHUN (1070-1280) by raiders in KA garb (P/Rs #1017-1022); a force of 6 rebels, dressed as soldiers, appeared in SAM YANG Ni (950-1150), CHEJU-DO, on 3 January, assembled village rightist and then opened fire, killing 31 persons. On 18 January KANGWON-DO police reported that 3 communist deserters from the Army, killed in a fight in SAMCHOK (1200-1630), wore wearing police clothing.
COMMENT: The collection of uniforms by rebels presages an increase in the incidence of acts of violence by terrorists masquerading as security personnel. This strategy of the communists will prejudice present amicable police-Army relations and will undermine public confidence in both forces.
