1월 3일 50여 명 정도의 무장폭도를 포함한 폭도 100명이 상명리를 공격하여 주민 31명과 경관 1명을 살해하고, 주민 30명을 납치했으며, 주택 30채를 불태웠다. (경비대 보고)
2. 제주도청에 불
제주도청 건물이 1월 3일 불에 타면서 모든 기록물이 소실되었다. 불은 청사 중 한 건물에서만 일어났는데 태업이 방화의 원인으로 보인다. 현재 경비대에 의한 수사가 진행 중이다. (경비대 보고)

(2) CHEJU-DO Rebels Terrorize Village
On 3 January a force of 100 raiders, half of whom were armed, attacked the village of SANG MYONG Ri (920-1130) on CHEJU-DO. killed 71 civilians and 1 policeman, kidnapped 30 civilians and burned 30 homes. (Constabulary Report)
4. SABOTAGE AND ESPIONAGE
Burn Provincial Headquarters on CHEJU-DO
The Capitol building of CHEJU-DO at CHEJU (950-1150) was burned on 3 January and all provincial records were destroyed. Sabotage was suspected in the fire, which was confined to 1 building. An investigation is being conducted by the Constabulary, (Constabulary Report)
