Restricted HEADQUARTERS XXIV CORPS APO 235 30 August 1947 From 221800 Aug 47 No 45 (Reports Control Symbol QGC-04) To 291800 Aug 47 G-3 OPERATIONS REPORT 1. LOCATION OF TROOPS Effective 25 August, the following unit is relieved of assignment to 80th Medical Group, and is assigned to Special Troops, XXIV Corps: 42d Veterinary Animal Service Detachment 2. WEATHER AND VISIBILITY Warm and clear. Favorable to air and ground operations. 3. OPERATIONS FOR THE PERIOD a. 6th Inf Div: The following troop displacements were effected on dates indicated: 1 Platoon A Co 1st Inf from Gigietsu Naval Base (1238-1456) to Mauntas (1215-1354) 25 August. 1 platoon M Co 20th Inf from Pusan to Kwangju (992-1350) 27 August. 1 platoon F Co 20th Inf reinforced from Cheju Island (951-1152) to Yosu (1075-1303) 27 August. Motorized patrols were active throughout division area of responsibility, visiting towns and villages not occupied by U.S. Troops. b. 7th Inf Div: The 2d Platoon 7th Mccz Cav Recon Trs displaced Kaesong (956-1692) to Yonan (919-1685) 24 August. 1 Rifle Platoon 2d Bn, 32d Inf established observation post at (891- 1696) 25 August. Motorized patrols were active throughout division area of responsibility, visiting towns and villages not occupied by U.S. Troops. c. Korea Base Command: 20,575 measurement tons were discharged at Inchon from 211800 Aug to 281800 August 1947. 4. RESULTS OF OPERATIONS Minor troop displacements were effected during the period. All major commands continued normal occupational duties. 5. MISCELLANEOUS a. The destroyer patrol from Task Force 96 investigated 2 legal vessels. b. The Tachiganu Maru departed Pusan for China with 39 Chinese refugees. c. 2,441 Koreans crossed the 38° N Parallel from North Korea and entered the refugee compounds at Kaesong, Uijongbu, and Chunchon.
