미군정중대, 중문리에서 한국인 사살
1945년 12월 12일 제주도에서 발생한 한 한국인 사망 사건을 조사한 결과(1945. 12. 15, 일일정보보고 제58호) 다음과 같은 사실이 밝혀졌다.
제59군정중대의 한 분견대가 보고 받은 폭동을 진정시키기 위하여 경찰을 대동하고 중문리로 출동했다. 도착 직후 면주민 한 무리가 면장을 구타하고 면사무소를 점거한 사실이 밝혀졌다. 폭도들은 미군을 보자마자 달아나려 했다. 폭도들이 멈추라는 명령(한국말을 사용함)을 거부하자 분견대장은 그들의 머리 위로 사격을 하도록 부하들에게 명령했다. 총알 하나가 낮았고, 김행이 맞아 죽었다. 소요의 원인은 면장에 대한 개인적인 미움 때문인 것으로 판명되었다. 정치단체는 관련되지 않았다.

b. Civil Disturbances by Province.
In Cholla-South:
Investigation of the killing of a Korean on CHEJU-DO, 12 Dec 45, (para 3b (1) (b), G-2 Report #56, 15 Dec 45), disclosed the following:
A detachment from the 59th Military Government Company accompanied civil police to CHUNGJUN-RI (not on map), to quell the reported riot. On arrival it was found that a group of townspeople had beaten the Mayor and were in possession of the City Hall. On sight of U. S. troops the rioters attempted to flee. When they refused to halt as ordered (Korean language was used), the detatchment Commander ordered his men to fire over their heads. One shot was low, hitting and killing KIM, Heng.
Cause of the disorder was determined to be personal dislikes of the Mayor. No political parties were involved.
