HEADQUARTERS UNITED STATES ARMY FORCES IN KOREA APO 235 TFGBI 314.7 SUBJECT: History of Cheju-do Operation 1 8 OCT 1948 TO : Chief, Provisional Military Advisory Group APO 235, Unit 2 1. The "History of the Department of Internal Security" submitted by that Department in conformity with letters this Headquarters, Subject: "Preparation of History of Military Government", dated 3 July and 11 August 1948, omits reference to and discussion of the operations conducted in Cheju-do by the Korean Constabulary under the Department of Internal Security. 2. It is essential that the Cheju-do operation be fully covered in the official Department of the Army History of the Military Government and Occupation of Korea. 3. It is directed, therefore, that you prepare and submit to G-2 this Headquarters, (Attn: Historical Section) a comprehensive, fully documented history of the Cheju-do operation, utilizing materials available in the files of the former Department of Internal Security, consequential personal observations of personnel involved, and such other information as may be available. 4. Form and method of footnoting should be in conformity with that prescribed in letters this Headquarters cited in paragraph 1, above (copies of which are enclosed). 5.
