b. 제주도 무장대 활동
무장대 활동이 10월 23일에서 10월 27일까지 계속되었다. 경비대는 공산주의자들의 선전술로 학생들을 선동하던 시위자 약 50명을 모슬포(925-1115)와 한림(925-1140)에서 체포했다. (A-2)
지난 3일 동안 서귀(957-1120)에서 총격이 있었고 도로가 봉쇄됐으며 전화선과 전신주 절단이 계속됐다. (A-2)
10월 24일 무장대는 제주읍 인근(950-1152)의 경비대 및 민간인 목재 수집 분견대를 공격했다. 경비대원 1명이 부상당하고 민간인 1명이 피살되었으며 다른 1명이 부상당했다. (A-2)
10월 25일 애월면(930-1147) 간선도로(930-1147)에서 버스 1대가 신원 미상의 사람들로부터 총격을 받았다. 1명이 죽고 1명이 부상당했다. (B-2)

a. Developments In CHOLLA-NAMDO From 260800 October to 270800 October
During the afternoon of 26 October rebel forces moved northwest of the PAEGUN-SAN (1160-1340) area and advanced toward KURYE (935-1355).
(F-6) At 261733 an air observer saw a large North Korean flag flying above a school in KURYE and one building was observed burning in the center of the town. No troops or demonstrations were seen. (A-2) Air observation reported no activity along the KURYE-NAMWON road and no activity in NAMWON at 261515 October. (A-2)
The Chief of railroad operations at TAEJON reported at 262200 that a train was fired on near KWAELOK (1045-1352). One passenger was injured. It was also reported that KURAEKU (1036-1355) was occupied by rebel forces. The railroad telephone line between IRI (990-1440) and
SUNCHON (1040-1320) was cut during the afternoon of 26 October. (C-3)
The attack on YOSU (1070-1300) continued during 26 October. Loyal forces entered the town at two points and were met by well organized resistance. The attack was still in progress at 261800 October. (PMAG
Report) On 26 October one 2½ ton truck carrying rebels was reportedly destroyed by friendly fire north of YOSU. The bumper was marked with a large figure 7 and "People's Army Headquarters." (PMAG Report)
A report was received that some rebel leaders were assembling on KADOK Island (1180-1330). (F-6)

b. Raider activities on CHEJU-DO
Raider activities on CHEJU DO continued during the period from
23 October to 27 October. Constabularymen captured approximately 50 demonstrators at MOSUIPO (925-1115) and HALLIN-LI (925-1140) who were agitating school children with communist propaganda. (A-2)
During the past three nights the town of SOGWI (957-1120) was fired into and the blocking of roads and the cutting of telephone lines and poles by raiders has continued. (A-2)
On 24 October raiders attacked a constabulary and civilian wood gathering detail near CHEJU CITY (950-1152). One constabularyman was wounded and one civilian was killed and one wounded. (A-2)
On 25 October a bus was fired on by unknown persons on the main road in AEWOL Myun (930-1147). One person was killed and 1 wounded. (B-2)
c. Communists Attack Youth Group Headquarters In INCHON
At about 251310 October an office of the UNITED YOUNG MEN'S PARTY in INCHON (960-1630) was attacked by approximately 30 communists armed with clubs and stones. Communists entered the office and distributed handbills on which was pictured a flag of North KOREA, broke several windows and tore down the UYMP sign. Three UYMP members who were in the office made no attempt to stop the communists and the rightists were not molested. No arrests were made and no one was injured. (CIC Flash

d. More Communist Plans
The DEMOCRATIC PATRIOTIC YOUNG MEN'S ASSOCIATION and the DEMOCRATIC
STUDENTS LEAGUE reportedly will distribute handbills, instigate demonstrations in schools and disseminate general communist propaganda until
7 November. All communist activity is to be confined to small raids, terrorism and propaganda campaigns until some time after that date. At an unknown time guerrilla bands of from 20 to 40 communists reportedly will attack small villages and kidnap all pro-Japanese and pro-Americans and try them in a "People's Court." (CIC P/R #250.
