CHEJU-DO Re-Election Indefinitely Postponed** On 10 June the Military Governor issued the following proclamation: "By virtue of the power vested in me by Section 44, Law for the Election of Representatives of the Korean People, of 17 March 1948, acting on recommendation of the National Election Committee, I declared on 24 May 1948 the election held on 10 May 1948 in Electoral District A and Electoral District B of North CHEJU DO null and void because voting was held in less than 50 per cent of the voting districts of these two electoral districts due to activities and violence of subversive elements. Simultaneously I ordered that a new election take place in these two electoral districts on 23 June 1948. In view of the continuing efforts of subversive elements to disturb public peace and order on CHEJU DO Island, motivated by the desire to guarantee to the voting population of Electoral District A and Electoral District B of North CHEJU DO a peaceful and undisturbed election which truly represents the will of the people of these districts, I herewith order that the by-election in these two electoral districts is postponed for an indefinite period." --- **3. CIVIL UNREST** **a. Police Raid CHEJU-DO Village** Between 110300 and 110900 June 60 police raided TOTU RI (945-1151). 11 rioters were arrested, one was killed and the police confiscated dynamite detonators, signal flares, communist books and a press and necessary paper for printing handbills. (MG Report. B-2) **b. Rightist Killed On CHEJU-DO** On 10 June 10 raiders armed with Japanese rifles killed one UNITED YOUNG MEN'S PARTY member at TOSUN RI (946-1220). (MG Report. B-2)
