제주도 상황 보고 / 오라리사건
한국 서울, 5월 2일 (UP통신) - 잘 조직된 게릴라가 미국이 점령하고 있는 제주도의 한 마을을 공격하여 3시간 동안 장악하다 토벌대에 의하여 쫓겨났다. 미 육군의 정찰기가 섬 상공을 비행한 뒤 다음과 같이 보고했다. 3개 마을이 게릴라로부터 위협을 받았다. 이러한 공격은 최근의 폭동을 일으키고, 경찰지서에 대하여 산발적인 공격을 가한 공산주의자들이 지도하고 있는 것으로 믿어진다. 지난주 제주에 급파된 응원경찰은 오늘의 공격을 전면적인 유격전의 시작으로 보고 있다. 그들은 폭도들이 여자 4명을 포함해 적어도 7명을 살해했다고 진술했다.

4. SUMMARY OF INTELLIGENCE IN ADJACENT AREAS.
a. CHEJU DO Situation Report:
SEOUL, Korea, 2 May - (UP) - Well organized guerillas
battled their way into a village on American-occupied CHEJU Island and held it for three (3) hours today before they were beaten
back by Korean Security Forces. U.S. Army observation planes
reported after a flight over the island that three (3) villages
were threatened by guerilla bands, believed led by Communists
who fostered recent riots and isolated attacks on CHEJU Police
Stations. Korean Police reinforcements who were rushed to
CHEJU last week described today's attacks as the beginning of
full-scale guerilla warfare. They said the raiders murdered at
least seven (7) persons, four (4) of them women.
