Cheju-Do: (1) HALLDONG-NI (966 - 1155) - Police report that at 1600, 13 May 48, an estimated 300 men raided the town. Three houses and a police box were burned. One policeman was killed, one was wounded and five policemen are missing. A bystander was injured by police fire. The mother of a policeman was killed. A bus driver was wounded, by a hand grenade thrown at his bus, while he was occupying it. (Police report) (2) HALLIM (923 - 1137) - Between 0400-0600, 14 May 48, a group of approximately 200 men, raided the town. The wife of the Myun Chief was shot and killed. One man was wounded by a knife wielded by one of the attackers. Six houses were set afire by the raiders,who then withdrew. At 1300, 14 May 48, a group of approximately 200 raiders again attacked the town. Five of the raiders were killed by Korean Constabulary and police in a coordinated action. No casualties were reported among police or the Constabulary. Identification papers removed from dead raiders are being examined and checked. The Constabulary moving dispersed the raiders, returned to their base. At 1445, raiders returned to the town, set fire to the Kyun Office and killed one policeman.
