경무부장 조병옥에 따르면, 4월 4일 현재 등록한 선거권자는 총 유권자 880만명 중에서 약 560만명이다. 이는 등록종료를 4일 남겨둔 시점에서 매우 훌륭한 등록상황이다.
또한 현재까지 유권자 등록과 관련하여 비교적 극소수의 폭력사건이 발생하였을 뿐이다. 9개의 선거등록사무소가 공격을 받았는데 그 중 7곳은 전라남도이고 2곳은 서울이었다. 그리고 경찰지서가 공격당하기도 하였는데 특히 제주도에서는 좌익계열의 “군(Goon)”이라는 무리들이 (주로 무기를 탈취하고자 저지른 행동으로 보임) 공격을 계속하고 있으나 이것은 선거등록과 우연히 일치하였을 뿐 그 결과로 생긴 사건은 아닌 것으로 사료된다.

According to police chief Chough, number of persons registering as of April 4 was approximately 5,600,000 out of estimated 8,800,000 eligibles, which is excellent showing as four days remain for registration.
Also to date, there has been comparatively little violence in connection with registrations. Only nine registration places have been attacked, seven in Cholla Namdo and two in Seoul. Attacks on police boxes, especially on Cheju Island by leftist "Goon" squads (believed to be perpetrated largely for purpose of obtaining arms) continue but this is considered to be coincidental to registration and not as result thereof.
