제주도 주둔 경비대는 섬을 장악하려는 공산주의자들의 음모를 무력화시키고 10월 30일 공산주의자 135명을 사살하였다고 주장하는 보고를 하였다.
논평 : 최근의 폭동과 공산주의자들의 연관성을 언급하는 특정한 보고는 없지만 공산주의의 영향력이 일련의 경비대 반란의 촉발에 아마도 기여했을 것이다. 또한 김구의 지도력 하에서 한반도의 통일을 선호하는 인원들에 의하여 여러 집단들이 반정부적으로 되었을 가능성이 있다. 보고는 폭도들은 진압하려는 정부군에게 유리하게 소규모 부대로 작전하거나 폭동을 일으킨다고 기록하고 있다.

Constabulary troops Cheju Island report they have nullified Communist plot to gain control island; claim they killed 135 Communists 30 October.
Comment: No specific reports received concerning Communist connections with latest riots but Communist influence possibly instrumental in initiating series Constabulary revolts. Also possible that groups were disaffected by elements favoring unification Korea under leadership KIM Koo. Reports indicate rioters coming into open and operating in small groups which may be advantageous to loyal Constabulary units attempting to subdue dissidents.
