제주읍에 거주하는 한 주민이 서울에 사는 친구에게 보낸 편지에서 “제주읍 주민들은 최근 경찰과 지방 우익단체인 한독당에 의해 마을에 있는 학교로 나오라는 명령을 받고 나갔는데, 거기에서 한독당 당원명부에 서명할 것을 강요받았다”고 밝혔다.

Island residents of CHEJU-EUP, CHEJU-DO were recently ordered by police and the local right-wing KOREAN INDEPENDENCE PARTY to assemble at the village schoolhouse where they were forced to sign membership cards in the KIP, according to a postcard report made by a resident of the village to a SEOUL friend.
