미 구축함, 불법선박 체포
1946년 12월 11일부터 12월 13일 사이에 미 구축함 ‘브러쉬호(BRUSH)’가 다음과 같은 불법선박을 체포했다.
(1) 현진환(The HEUNJIN WHAN): 19t. 선체길이 65피트 디젤선. 이 배는 1946년 12월 12일 오전 9시 제주도 성산포에서 100만엔 어치의 불법화물을 적재하고, 오사카에서 제주도로 오는 승객 38명을 불법 승선시켰다가 체포됐다. 해안경비대가 이 선박을 목포로 나포했다.
(2) 김말리란키(The KIMMALILANKI, 중국선박): 15t. 휘발유를 사용하는 정크선. 이 배는 1946년 12월 12일 오전 9시 대량의 페니실린과 식품, 면제품과 모제품을 싣고 제주도 성산포항에 불법 입항했다가 화물적하목록 미소지 등의 혐의로 체포됐다. 해안경비대가 이 선박을 목포로 나포했다.

Miscellaneous.
The U.S. Destroyer "HOLLISTER", DD788, during the period 2 Jan to 17 Jan 47,
apprehended and seized the following illegal shipping:
a. The SHING WAN WHAN, P-9, small passenger boat, was apprehended at 1200, 3
Jan, at Latitude 34° North, Longitude 126° 25' East for having 5 bags of
illegal rice aboard. A Korean Coast Guard prize crew took her into CHEJU
(955 - 1150).
b. The SANGU WHAN, M-318, motor junk, was apprehended at 1415, 4 Jan, at Lati-
tude 33'' 45' North, Longitude 126° 31' East, for carrying 8 illegal pass-
engers and the following illegal cargo: tools, 500 gallons of gasoline,
salted fish and 3 trucks. A Korean Coast Guard prize crew took her into MOKPO (938 - 1307).
c. The KIMBU JHAN, MM-65, motor cargo boat, was apprehended at 1125, 9 Jan, at Latitude 33° 53' North, Longitude 126° 28' East, for having 900 sacks (60 kilograms per sack) of illegal rice aboard. U.S. Navy personnel did not inventory cargo but believed that more then 900 sacks were cboard; authenticity of clearance papers also extremely doubtful. A Korean Coast Guard prize crew took her into MOKPO.
d. The CHUN ILL WHAN, D-673, 12 ton motor cargo boat, was apprehended at 1100, 13 Jan, at Latitude 33° 50' North, Longitude 126° 50' East, for having an illegal cargo of at least 50 bales of cotton aboard. A Korean Coast Guard prize crew took her into MOKPO.
e. The CHONG KYONG WHANG, N-224, motor cargo boat with auxiliary sail, was apprehended at 1630, 15 Jan, at Latitude 33° 36' North, Longitude 126° 36' East, for having an illegal cargo of cotton, silk, and 20 sacks of rice. Destination was CHEJU Island but since the motor had broken down, the U.S. Destroyer "HOLLISTER" towed her to within 2 miles of shore and radioed the LSM 321 in the harbor to send out a launch and to turn boat over to U.S. Army at CHEJU.
