민간인 소요 - 제주읍(좌표 950-1150)
1947년 3월 1일 오전 10시께 무허가 집회에 참석했던 군중 약 1,000명이 제주경찰서 건물을 향해 행진을 하면서 공격했다. 경찰이 폭도들에게 발포해서 민간인 4명이 죽고 숫자 미상의 민간인이 부상당했다. 나중 들어온 보고에 따르면 부상자 중 1명은 사망했다. 경찰관 1명이 경상을 입었다. 미국인 사상자는 없다. 미군은 군중들을 해산시키는데 협조했다. 제주경찰서장은 목포경찰서에 경찰 100명을 파견해줄 것을 요구했고, 3월 1일 오후 5시 응원경찰대는 배편으로 제주도로 급파되었다. 상황은 진정되었지만 3월 2일 밤에도 여전히 긴장감이 감돌고 있다.

CHEJU (950-1150)(33°30'N-126°32'E) - 011000 March 1947 - An unauthorized meeting of approximately 1,000 people paraded toward the police building and then attacked. The police fired into the mob killing 4 civilians and injuring an unknown number. Later one of the wounded was reported as having died. 1 police man was slightly injured. No American casualties. US troops assisted in dispersing the crowd. The Chief of police of CHEJU City made a request to the National Police at MOKPO (936-1037) for 100 additional police and they were dispatched by boat at 011700 March. Situation was quiet but tense on the night of 02 March.
